What would we do without Wild and Wonderful West
Virginia! 18 years ago we fell in love with everything about it. Now we have
a home there. It is an undiscovered treasure, an oasis of natural beauty and
we try hard to leave it that way. We are willing to share it, but only with
fellow photographers. West Virginia seems to always embrace the opportunity
to share with us photographers her magnificent beauty and wonders. We never
tire of these location and they never let us down. The region represents a
simpler life style, a slower pace, a step back in time not to mention
beautiful scenery. We will stay in Canaan Valley and use it as our home base
traveling to points beyond to photograph scenics, wildflowers, waterfalls,
rivers, fences, old barns, bugs, windmills and anything else that suits our
fancy. Everywhere you look you will see a photograph. And within each
photograph awaits another. Most of our instruction will be conducted in the
field as usual and we will work on topics of interest to the whole group – a
lot of one on one. One topic, for instance, will open your eyes to seeing
more than the obvious- shooting a picture within a picture within a picture.
Patterns in the wood of an old, knarred aged barn can be intriguing and
spark creativity. Or maybe frame only the corner of a barn with a little
fence line and small flower using a wide angle. Fog as it extends and folds
its arms, wrapping them around barns and trees, rising from the wetlands,
creating serenity, mystery and magic is one of the easiest subjects to
photograph. We’ll show you.
